Humanity : I think that I am smarter than you!

I have an acquaintance here in Aachen, just call her M (not Memey or Mahmoud or Mohammad). We know each other from German language course. The first time when I saw her, I said hello to her, but she said, "Sorry, I want to focus on the German language." Then she turned around and walked away with 'I-am-not-in-the-mood-to-be-your-friend' look. Since that time, I never tried to talk to her any more until she realized that she had some difficulties in German language. Then she asked me a lot about the grammar. I spent some time in the library to teach her German grammar and it was okay for me. But too bad she didn't finish her first month because she didn't pass the exam. So, she gave up. The other reason was because she was 4 months pregnant.

And the trouble came! She is married to a Netherland-born Indonesian who grew up in Germany but is still holding Indonesian passport. And according to the immigration law of 2006 in Germany, that every person who wants to live in Germany has to learn German. The government even pays half of the fee. So, nobody can complain about that! But if you don't want to learn, then trouble comes to you :)

After she delivered the baby, a couple months later the government called her and asked about her German course. She was so stressed. She was searching for cheaper and faster school here and there. Because she hadn't finished what the government offered, after that she had to pay by herself. She thinks it is not fair. She wanted the government to pay the baby-sitting fees. During that time, her Visa needed to be extended. In the end, I don't if she or the government paid for the fees. And once I called her about her visa thingy and this was the conversation:

C : Hi there, how are you? Bla bla bla bla
M: Stress blabla bla bla
C : Is everything okay with the Department of Foreign Affairs?
M: I was fighting with them at the office and arguing about my visa.
C : huuh?
M: Yeah because they threatened me not to extend my visa because of the German course problem.

to be continued

Jerman sejak taon 2006, bagi org asing yg mao tinggal di jerman, harus sekolah bahasa jerman, biar kagak kayak turki, gak bisa ngomong, ngotot pulak..cuman biaya 1/2 dibayar ama pemerintah, jadi udah enak lah :)
